Cancellation Policy
If a reservation is cancelled:
- 22 or more days prior to the arrival date of the visitor - client, the prepayment is fully refunded (any potential expenses are charged to the client).
- 14 to 21 days prior to the arrival date of the visitor - client, 50% of the prepayment is refunded to the client (any potential expenses are charged to the client).
- 13 or less days prior to the arrival date of the visitor - client, the prepayment is not refunded.
It is the first thing one sees when entering the city. It was built by the Venetians in the late 13th century on the ruins of a Byzantine fortress. Its most important monuments are the Byzantine church of Agia Sophia, the church of Agios Charalambos and a large octagonal tower in the inner enclosure. Inside the castle are preserved carved tombs, Venetian cisterns, othoman hammam and the "tholos", gunpowder warehouses.
The Venetians rebuilt the castle and improved the fortifications. This work must have been completed towards the end of the 13th century.
The city, which the Venetians called Coron, during the Venetian occupation gained great prosperity and became famous for its crafts and export trade. Its glamour is noted in the travelogues of various European travelers, who were forced to park in the area either to refuel or to repair their ships. According to their narratives, inside the castle lived not only Venetians but also Greeks, merchants and craftsmen.

Ancient Koroni in today's Petalidi was founded by Boeotian settlers, around 365 B.C. It experienced particular growth in Hellenistic and Roman times, while it had an important port. Pausanias mentions that in the city there were sanctuaries of Inos, Artemis, Asclepius and Dionysus while he mentions the important bronze statues of Zeus and Athena.
In today's Koroni, on the contrary, was Asini, known since the 5th century BC. In the 9th century, in Byzantine times, the inhabitants of Koroni settled in Asini, bearing its name. In 1207, when the Venetians expelled the Frankish garrison of Geoffrey Villehardouin, Koroni was reinforced with extensive fortifications. Together with Methoni, they then formed the so-called "Eyes of Venice" (oculi capitals communis), as they became stations of its ships, which ensured its commercial activities in the East. Then Koroni became an important commercial center, with a strong economy and great radiance.
